Although the official end of summer is weeks away, next week’s start of the school year essentially signals the end of summer for many of our children and their families. As the back to school spirit (frenzy?) settles in, I recall the sense of sadness I felt as a child as summer’s fun morphed into the return to learning season the school year. O how I wanted summer to linger! Yet now, I find myself yearning for more learning, to grasp and re-grasp information. The older
I get, the more I understand that knowledge truly is power! As we contend with growing divisions and hostilities across our land, now is the time for Christians to grasp and re-grasp the
basic truths of our faith: love, grace, civility, justice and forgiveness. When practiced, these
truths have power. Every relationship, every family, every school needs these elements. So
does our nation.
