First Christian Church of Findlay, Ohio has been blessed to have a relationship with A Renewed Mind of Findlay, a non-profit which helps people dealing with recovery from substance abuse and addiction issues. This relationship has led First Christian to create new ministry initiatives that offer not only hospitality to clients and guests of Ohio Guidestone, but also offer clients spiritual support in their recovery process.
After First Christian Church of Findlay sold its former church building off of N. Main Street in 2016, the congregation moved into rented retail space along Tiffin Avenue in Findlay, Ohio. Feeling the call to transition the church from being a traditional congregational ministry into a missional outreach ministry by desiring to “meet people where they are at” in Findlay, First Christian began to explore ways it could work with neighboring non-profits and organizations. This led First Christian to begin to find ways it could partner with A Renewed Mind, which is located in the retail space next door to our church.
Some of the many ways First Christian has worked with Ohio Guidestone includes offering a weekly program called “Coffee with Peers” which allows individuals who are clients at Ohio Guidestone to have the opportunity to meet with their peer mentors in our church in a relaxed atmosphere which offers hospitality, baked goods, and coffee. Our pastor is available to clients of Ohio Guidestone for spiritual support throughout their recovery process.
